Some of the popular iets offer rapid weight loss. You need to be careful that you are not losing weight too fast. Some of the diets have lists of “good food” and “bad food”. Some limit or restrict complete food groups.
Many popular diets are low-carbohydrate. There is a lack of scientific evidence for or against these diets. This controversy has raged for decades. Many people have successfully lost weight and kept it off with this approach. Others have not been able to stay on such a strict regimen.
Popular diets usually fall under one of the following categories:
- A fixed menu diet that lists foods you can and cannot eat.
- Exchange diet. You are allowed a certain amount of servings from each food group per day.
- Combination diet. Eating a certain combination of foods at various times of the day to increase your metabolism.
- Questionable diet. Restricts or strictly limits entire food groups.
Experts agree that the healthiest and safest weight loss program consists of an exchange diet. You eat a variety of foods giving your body the fuel and energy it needs. You also don’t feel deprived and will not get bored eating the same ole thing day in and day out.
